L recently chose the LEGO Juniors 10737 Batman™ vs. Mr. Freeze™ set. This is first LEGO Juniors set he’s had in a while and he was excited about building LEGO Batman and Mr.Freeze.
LEGO Juniors play sets are designed to be more simple than your usual LEGO set. This set is aimed at the 4 – 7 age range, L is 4. This set was easier for L to build than previous sets we have completed together. L completed the set without much assistance from me, save for pushing a few pieces in to place.
L was able to follow all the instructions, initially building the characters Batman and Mr. Freeze. Next up was Mr. Freeze’s gun, boat and ice set. L had no problems with these pieces and I suddenly realised he might not need me to help him build LEGO anymore. Finally, he made the Batboat, the base is pre-built and L continued to follow the instructions. He needed a little bit of help pushing some of the pieces in, but he was really pleased with himself that he was able to complete the majority of the set. I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come, where will I get my LEGO fix now?
The set features the Batboat with an opening cockpit and bat-disc shooter, ice speeder and an ‘ice jail’. The set also includes Mr. Freeze's freeze gun and Batman´s Batarang. The Batboat floats in water and L enjoyed firing the bat-discs.
The set has a recommended retail price of £12.99 or $14.99. I think this is good value for 2 mini-figures, a small boat and large boat and a small playset piece. L loves the set and he was especially pleased that he could build the majority of it independently.
